What Are The Alternatives To Root Canal Therapy-Orlando, FL Dentist

When the inner layer of the tooth, also known as the pulp, becomes infected, your treatment choices are limited. Options include the following: tooth extraction, delaying treatment, or root canal treatment. I will outline these choices below.

Tooth extraction is by far the least expensive and fastest way to treat an infected tooth. It is less expensive in the short term, because if you want to replace the missing tooth with an implant and crown or a bridge, you will most likely pay far more than it would cost to treat the tooth with a root canal and a crown. Also, if that space where the tooth once stood is left unrestored, the teeth adjacent to the space can shift, causing tooth wear, periodontal disease, loss of the tooth, and even loss of the opposing tooth.

Delaying treatment is another option, however, not the best option by any means. If you choose to delay treatment The infection could spread through the tooth into the surrounding bone and soft tissue, and the pain can become unbearable. Also the infection could spread throughout the body and could become life threatening.

Root canal treatment is an excellent treatment option for the treatment of an infected tooth. With today’s no techniques and anesthesia, root canal therapy can be a quick and painless way to take care of a toothache and relieve an infected tooth.

Dr. Zach Hodgins has helped thousands of patients seeking relief from their tooth pain. Dr. Hodgins offers root canal therapy, as well as tooth extraction to help those that have tooth pain and infection. What is a root canal and how can it help me with my toothache? – Toothache Dentist Orlando, FL

Root canal therapy has really developed a reputation as being one of the most feared procedures in all of dentistry. Just the mere mention of the word ” Root canal ” conjures up visions of pain and terror. The good news is that things have changed dramatically over the years, and root canals have become pain free for the most part. Most patients may only feel a small pinch when the anesthetic is delivered. The procedure itself is used to remove the infected nerve and blood vessels from a tooth that is causing a toothache or infection. After the anesthetic has been administered, the tooth is isolated with a barrier called a rubber dam. The rubber dam is utilized to protect the patient from swallowing any of the materials used when completing a root canal. After isolation, access to the tooth and infection is completed and the infection is removed. Finally the tooth is sealed with an antimicrobial sealer and warm gutta percha, a rubberized material that seals the root canal system.
Dr. Zach Hodgins, a dentist that practices in the Orlando, FL area has helped thousands of patients with their toothaches by using root canal therapy. Dr. Hodgins welcomes emergency patients and sees them the same day for toothache relief. Call 407.647.1744 for relief from your toothache today!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CASH FOR CANDY
Local Dentist Takes a Stand Against Sweets this Halloween

Winter Park,FL – What’s a ghost’s favorite candy? BOO-ble gum!
One area dentist is redefining the phrase “put your money where your mouth is.” This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to The Dentist’s Studio in Winter Park,FL and receive $1 per pound. Dr. Zach Hodgins is leading this anti-decay movement by giving away dollars and electric glowing toothbrushes in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.
“Ditch the candy, that’s what we’re saying. Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost,” says Dr. Zach Hodgins from The Dentist’s Studio. “Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well. Plus, these glowing brushes we’re giving out are really cool—they’re like light sabers for your mouth.”
Global sugar consumption by children increases by about 2% annually and currently sits at 50 million tons per year, which means parents need to be sure their kids teeth are being cared for more than ever. Candy, as well as hurting children’s teeth, can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. In some cases, the wrong types of candy can also lead to broken teeth and damaged braces.
Candy will be collected at The Dentist’s Studio the day after Halloween, Monday November 1, 2010, only from 3 – 6 p.m. The candy must be unopened. Please no bites. It will then be shipped to troops overseas.
Dr Zach Hodgins is the owner and dentist at the Dentist’s Studio in Winter Park, FL. They emphasize family dentistry, as well as sedation and cosmetic dentistry. Dr Hodgins is available to provide more information at 407-647-1744, or visit The Dentist’s Studio on-line at www.Dentiststudio.com

How do I know If I need a root canal? – Orlando, Florida Emergency Dentist

You may have an infected tooth if you have the following symptoms: 1) Your tooth is hot or cold sensitive and lasts longer than 30 seconds after the hot or cold material is no longer contacting the tooth. 2) Your tooth hurts spontaneously. 3) You develop swelling around the affected tooth 4) Chewing on that tooth is uncomfortable. If you have any of these symptoms, I would recommend calling a dentist immediately. Usually if you have these symptoms, the affected tooth will require root canal treatment or an extraction (Oral Surgery). In most cases antibiotics will be used along with pain medication to alleviate any symptoms that may persist after treatment has been delivered. Many times these procedures can be performed under sedation. Dr. Zach Hodgins accepts new patients that are looking for toothache relief. Dr. Hodgins practices dentistry in Winter Park, Florida. Call 407.647.1744 to schedule an appointment for relief from your toothache.

The Benefits of Preventive Dentistry

The entire team here at The Dentist’s Studio is passionate about Cosmetic, Implant & Restorative dentistry! One of the cornerstones of our practice, however, is preventive dentistry which we are equally passionate about expertly providing to our wonderful patients. After all, healthy smiles are the most beautiful.

We recognize that many of our Winter Park and Orlando dental patients lead very busy lifestyles. Remembering to floss every day and come in for regular dental cleanings, therefore, can often be put on the back burner. But there are plenty of reasons to make your dental health a priority!

A couple of the most compelling reasons to maintain optimal dental health through regular preventive care include:

* The longevity of your smile. Improper or inadequate dental care (both home care and in-office maintenance) can lead to advancing periodontal disease and eventually tooth loss, not to mention dental decay and the need for extensive restorations.
* The longevity of… well, you! Periodontal disease has been linked to cardiovascular disease, clogged arteries and stroke. This means that by taking care of your teeth, you could without a doubt be preserving your own life!

So if it has been a little too long between teeth cleaning visits for you, contact the office of Winter Park and Orlando Cosmetic Dentist Zach Hodgins today! Our caring staff is dedicated to helping you keep your smile beautiful through providing advanced preventive dental care, and educate you on proper home care!
